“Gripping as a thriller” – “Gambling on Extinction” wins the German Environmental and Sustainability Award
“Gambling on Extinction” wins the German Environmental and Sustainability Award at NaturVision Film Festival (July 26, 2015). The jury statement reads: “Gambling on Extinction grabs you like a thriller and takes you into the abyss of a globalised world”.
NaturVision is Germany’s longest-running nature film festival, focusing on the natural world, wildlife, the environment and sustainability.
The award was collected in Ludwigsburg, Germany by Co-producer Tristan Chytroschek (A&O Buero filmproduktion gmbh).
The hard-hitting documentary investigates the international trade in illegal wildlife products and has been previously awarded the Prize of the President of the Festival Committee at Ekotop Film Festival in Bratislava, and was shown at the Environmental Film Festival in Washington DC. Wildlife trafficking documentary “Gambling on Extinction” wins the Prize of the President of the Festival Committee at the International Film Festival EKOTOPFILM – ENVIROFILM Slovakia 2015.
“Gambling on Extinction” was screened on May 29, 2015 in the Sustainable Lifestyle program.

The International Film Festival Ekotopfilm – Envirofilm 2015 is about new technologies, science, research, environment and ecology. The aim of the festival is to introduce, confront and encourage the production of films and TV programs with the intention of nature and environment protection in a worldwide scale, to broaden the horizons of people and to increase their activity in resolving those issues, and also to assist with the education and care for the nature and environment at the same time.
Anne Pick wins prestigious Don Haig award
It’s celebration time! 2015 winner of the Don Haig Award is our very own, Anne Pick. Anne received the award at the Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival on May 1.
The Don Haig Award is presented by the Hot Docs Board of Directors to an outstanding Canadian independent producer with a feature-length film in the Festival. The Award recognizes creative vision and entrepreneurship, as reflected in their body of work and their film in the Festival, as well as a track record of the mentoring emerging Canadian filmmakers.
